Hilda Ramsay Fund Bursary Recipient

At their recent meeting the NDP PEI Women’s Committee presented the 2024 Hilda Ramsay Bursary to UPEI student, Elizabeth Okudzeto. 

NDP leader, Michelle Neill presented a cheque for $500 to a well deserving recipient saying “It was a pleasure hearing how much the HRF bursary meant to Elizabeth in supporting her goal to complete her Masters in Education and Leadership.“Elizabeth shared that her motivation for working as a casual frontline staff at the Charlottetown Outreach Centre. “I have a strong desire to work directly with vulnerable people.” She went on to say that coming from Ghana, a country where such a facility is non-existent, she recognizes the significant impact an Outreach Centre of this kind can make in providing essential resources and support to individuals in need. “This opportunity allows me to gain invaluable experience that I hope to leverage in the future to improve the living conditions of marginalized populations, particularly women and children.”Ms Okudzeto said the Hilda Ramsay Fund bursary brings her one step closer to realizing her aspirations to empower women in education and in broader societal roles. She also volunteers as an English instructor with the Immigration and Refugee Services Association.The HRF bursary is granted annually to a female student at UPEI or Holland College who displays leadership in social justice.
