Karen Morton Wins Island New Democrat Bid for District 19 By-Election
Karen Morton of North Carleton has received the endorsement of Island New Democrats on Sunday, January 7, to represent the Party in the soon to be called Borden-Kinkora by-election. The vacancy in the Provincial Legislature emerged in mid-November when the District MLA resigned, only seven months following the provincial election of April 3, 2023.
Karen Morton initially pursued a career in kinesiology, then returned to the University of Victoria, BC where she acquired a master’s degree in Conflict Resolution. She is an author, writing on the subject, and now is self-employed doing consulting work in this field. Karen has been involved in athletics and women’s groups, and more recently has been providing one-to-one support on a volunteer or professional basis.
“Living in the Borden-Kinkora District for more than five years, my neighbours and I are facing difficulty accessing health care and many other services that are lacking in this rural part of our beautiful Island. I will continue to listen to these important concerns and have them addressed in Charlottetown as the Island New Democrat Member of the Legislature for District 19”, commits Ms. Morton.

Karen resides in the Driftwood Estates area of North Carleton with her friend Tracy Morton, and their husky Sasha.
